Sharing Travel & Vacation Information

Just because the inauguration has come and gone does not mean that there is no longer a reason to visit Washington, DC. Why not take a trip to this historical city at your leisure and explore it from the inside out to see what really makes it tick? With DC Tours, you have many different opportunities to do just that, with lunch and dinner cruises, night tours, and historical tours at your disposal.

If you are looking for a general overview of the city, take the Washington DC Hop-On-Hop-Off Open-Top Double-Decker Bus Tour. With 25 stops throughout DC, there are lots of opportunities to get off the bus and walk around. You can rejoin the tour at any time, and your ticket is good for two days with unlimited use during that time. Should you decide to take the trip straight through, it will take you about two and a half hours in total. Some of the stops along the way include Union Station, the US Capitol, Lincoln Memorial, Ford’s Theatre, Arlington National Cemetery, Embassy Row, and many others. You can even follow the loop completely through once to get the lay of the land and then pick it up again later or the next day to revisit the stops of your choice.

As you can imagine, the city looks completely different during the day than it does at night. That is where the Washington DC After Dark Tour comes in. Your coach will take you to many of the sights listed above, but this time you will see them, quite literally, in a whole new light. You will stop to check out the FDR and Vietnam Memorials, the nation’s Capitol building, the White House, and all the other structures that have become a significant part of US history, all shining brightly amid the backdrop of the night sky.

Once you have seen the basic layout of the city, you are ready to step inside some of the historical buildings that make up the landscape, and you can do this on the Washington DC Interior Buildings Tour. While you will take a drive past the FBI Building, Washington Monument, and the Supreme Court, you can actually venture inside the World War II Memorial, National Air and Space Museum, the US Capitol and other well-known landmarks, making your experience that much richer.

While you may have missed seeing the new President get sworn in this month, that doesn’t mean you should miss out on experiencing the history and fun that awaits you in Washington, DC altogether. Take a trip to the city this winter and you will be very glad that you did. For more information, visit www.dctours.us and book your tickets today!

I haven't been to DC since high school. I'd really like to visit there again. My son has asked about going.

It's been years since I've been up there! My best friend lives there so I guess I should plan a trip soon. Wish I could have caught the inauguration live, but oh well.

I took my then 6 year old daughter to Washington DC and with the recommendation from the hotel concierge at the Grand Hyatt, booked the Washington DC Hop-On-Hop-Off Open-Top Double-Decker Bus Tour. Talk about the best thing ever! We joined the actual tour from Central Station (for some reason, I remember having a hard time finding the little check-in area though) and it was money WELL spent. We picked and chose over the two days that the ticket were valid where we wanted to get off and spend some time. I remember going to the Capitol, Washington Monument, White House, Lincoln Memorial, Chinatown, Arlington National Cemetery and the Smithsonian Institution, where the Hope Diamond was being displayed.

I travel quite often and try to take my daughter with me whenever I can. Any new city that we have not been to before, I usually take a recommended city tour so I see all of the important highlights within that city. I have in my younger days traveled to many destinations to find out later that I had missed an important highlight and so as an adult, I do not make the same mistake again. Plus, it's easier to book a city tour and have someone else getting you to the destinations than pouring over books, reading endless material and trying to figure out how to get to those destinations.

With my daughter now ten, learning about our political system in school, and showing interest on how our government works, I think we'll be back to Washington DC in the near future. Unfortunately, she does not remember much from the last trip but this time, she will have her digital camera in tow to take pictures of all of the sights that she sees. I will for sure book the Washington DC Hop-On-Hop-Off Open-Top Double-Decker Bus Tour again!

Whew! What a relief! I wasn't all that disappointed that I didn't go to the inaguration, but it would have been a blast to go. But, since this summer I am going to DC, I am glad to know that I can do have as much excitement all the while I am there!

This city is known for it's architectural buildings and landmarks. History has been created in this city with the election of our first black president--President Barack Obama, who will instill a change in todays society for all.
So book your tickets today to be a part of history in the makings.
